Clinical Programs

The Department of Psychiatry offers a range of mental health and substance use clinical services through our Telemental Health Program, including inpatient, outpatient, and medication-assisted treatment with suboxone and other medications. We also offer online therapy and online counseling services.

Our team is proud to answer the call for addiction psychiatry and telemental health services in light of increasing opiate addiction and overdoses as well as during the ongoing pandemic COVID-19. Ultimately, we seek to reduce the number of readmissions in treating patients outside of the hospital.

Background
In 2002, the Maryland Youth Practice Improvement Committee was established as a learning collaborative in psychopharmacology to integrate case conferences among the University of Maryland, Baltimore; Johns Hopkins; and state inpatient residential facilities. Later in 2008, the Department was awarded a Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) grant to provide mental health services to mid-shore Maryland providers.

Our telemental health programs have since expanded to include Child Telepsychiatry Programs, Adult Services, and Substance Use Disorder Treatment Telepsychiatry Programs.
